An Albuquerque, New Mexico, fire department dispatcher has resigned from his post after hanging up on a 911 caller who was attempting to save the life of a 17-year-old who had been shot

Matthew Sanchez, who was working in the city's dispatch center, received a call from a distraught woman who said that her friend, later identified by police as Jaydon Chavez-Silver, was dying. After the woman cursed at him, Sanchez told her to "deal with it yourself" and hung up the call. Sanchez resigned his post late Tuesday night, more than a month after the incident on June 26.
