DAVID DAVIS went some way towards reassuring those who are concerned that the UK’s departure from the European Union may be watered down as he appeared before the Brexit committee yesterday. Confirming that he expected us to leave the customs union and that the Government would win its Commons debate on the subject today, this was a timely intervention, not least because some Conservative Remainers are clearly prepared to use this issue to try to keep us in the EU in all but name.
