Cue squeals: Ailing tween heartthrob tabloid Tiger Beat will live to be ripped apart and taped inside middle schoolers' lockers again.
The New York Times writes that the glossy celebrity magazine that's been entertaining adolescent girls since 1965, has declined since its '70s heyday — but a team of big-name investors is working together to revamp it, raising $2 million to remold Tiger Beat into a "media empire."
Among those investors: Oklahoma City Thunder small forward Kevin Durant, movie producer Steve Tish, The Daily Mail and Nick Cannon, i.e. the former Mr. Mariah Carey — who may have appeared in Tiger Beat himself during his All That days. Read more...
