ESA work capability assessment rules explained as 1,000s of claims are yet to be processed



ESA, OR Employment and Support Allowance, is a state benefit providing claimants with money to help with living costs if they have a disability or a health condition that affects how much they can work. Since January 2021, all new claims for ESA are now processed through the New Style ESA rules, which are based on National Insurance contributions.
