THE Prime Minister has told the Attorney General Geoffrey Cox to find a way of ending the scandal whereby British military veterans – most of them elderly – of the Troubles are being called to account and have faced prosecution for actions that took place decades ago. For instance four former British soldiers have been charged with shooting incidents dating back to 1972 even though there was an investigation at the time when they were told there was no case to answer.
