
IN RELATIVELY good news for pensioners, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions Therese Coffey has announced that the state pension will rise next year. As part of the Government's triple lock pledge, the state pension is supposed to rise each year in line with either the rising cost of living seen in the Consumer Prices Index measure of inflation, increasing average wages, or 2.5 percent, whichever is highest. How does this rise affect pensioners?
