CONTROVERSIAL proposals to raise National Insurance to pay for social care and the NHS are causing concern among MPs as Parliament returns this week. MPs are concerned that proposals to raise National Insurance taxes in order to pay for social care and to help the NHS are going to backfire on the Conservative Party if the plans get the green light. Asking hard working Brits to pay more in tax is never going to be popular, but the Government's latest leaked plans to hike National Insurance has split MPs because it goes against a promise to voters at the last election not to increase tax, VAT or national insurance.
