FREE bus passes, also known as older person's bus passes, can be claimed by retirees in England or Wales who have reached the state pension age. Those living in Scotland or Northern Ireland can get a free bus pass from the age of 60. However, the Department for Work and Pensions has plans to raise this qualifying age, as in England it is linked to the state pension age - which is rising. Fortunately, it's possible to get an exact date for when one will be eligible for the state perk.
