For the last few years, we in the East Midlands have cast an envious eye over our neighbours in the West, like a younger sibling, we have watched as it has cut the apron strings with Central Government and forged away with new local democratic structures and more importantly, its own local priorities in terms of Governance and infrastructure investment led so ably by Conservative Party Mayor Andy Street.
