Nancy Reagan, First Lady of the United States from 1981 to 1989, passed away on March 6 at the age of 94
Though at times controversial in her role as first lady, Reagan became known as a powerful woman in politics. Her time in the public eye, however, first started with her acting career — a line of work that lead her to meet Ronald Reagan in 1949. A few years later, the two wed and soon started a family. As Ronald Reagan set his sights on politics, Nancy Reagan set her sights on helping him reach success.
