AS WE stand in front of our doors tonight to give the NHS a special birthday round of applause, we are not just thanking the heroes of the hour who have helped us get through this terrible coronavirus pandemic. What we are doing is celebrating generations of fantastic public servants who over 72 years have saved the lives of millions and transformed this country into a healthier and fairer place.
