UNIVERSAL CREDIT can be used to help pay for rent and some associated housing costs. However, the rules for this can be altered depending on if a person is renting from a private landlord, local authority or housing association. Those who are currently utilising housing benefit will need to take notice as this will stop once Universal Credit claims take over.
