THERE is no doubt long waits have become a barrier in general practice and it is not uncommon for a patient to be waiting three weeks to see their GP. As a consequence when a patient now becomes unwell they are having to seek other avenues of healthcare be it 111, A&E, urgent care centres and increasingly private care providers.
