Macklemore regrets not giving Iggy Azalea a heads up before he called her out on "White Privilege II." That's because giving someone a heads up before you speak ill of them is a thing that rappers do nowadays, apparently.
In Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' Billboard cover story, the Seattle rapper discusses the conversations he had about the single, a sprawling, nine-minute track that finds him questioning his place in hip-hop and the Black Lives Matter movement.
But none of those conversations were with Iggy Azalea.
“I don’t think people understood that I’m in my own head [saying], ‘You’re Miley, you’re Elvis, you’re Iggy Azalea’ — I’m talking about myself," he told Billboard. “Iggy and I came up together. We were on the XXL ‘Freshman’ cover together. There’s enough of a relationship that I should have let her know beforehand. And I didn’t do that.” Read more...
