Westminster must let GO – or the UK is FINISHED, says CARWYN JONES

Nobody who looks at the map the the UK after the General Election can fail to be struck by how divided our four nations have become from each other. In Scotland, the SNP took 48 seats out of 60; in Northern Ireland, nationalist MPs outnumbered unionists for the first time ever; in Wales, despite a Tory surge, Welsh Labour won the highest share of the vote and a majority of the seats, and of course in England, a clear victory for the Conservatives. So where does this leave our union? In trouble, bur not beyond repair. It’ll be difficult to argue against another referendum in Scotland given that the SNP campaigned on that issue and won. Boris Johnson said “Get Brexit done” and he won. Nicola Sturgeon said “let’s have another independence referendum” and she won. One mandate isn’t stronger that the other, and is it right for Westminster to deny the people of Scotland a vote on their membership of a union? Imagine what the reaction would have been if the EU had done that to the UK!
