Something momentous happened this week. A respected, Labour grandee, a decent, principled former minister and front bencher for whom the Labour Party has been his lifeblood for almost for as long as he’s been breathing, went on national TV and, close to tears, said Jeremy Corbyn wasn’t fit to be prime ­minister. Lifelong Labour voters will know what it took for Ian Austin to do that.
